Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-04-27

Provisional draft. These terms are a working version. The final, lawyer-reviewed version will replace this before public launch. For early-alpha customers, operational practices follow these terms and the agreements signed with individual design partners.

1. Acceptance

By using Signal, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you're using Signal on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

2. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Signal to (a) violate any law, (b) infringe any intellectual property right, (c) transmit malware or attempt to compromise our systems or other customers' tenants, (d) reverse engineer the service, or (e) use Signal to build a product that competes with Signal. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations.

4. Your data

You retain ownership of all data you bring into Signal. We operate on it only as needed to provide the service. Specifics on how we handle your data are in the privacy policy and at /product/security.

5. Pricing and billing

Signal is currently free during early alpha. Production pricing is described at /pricing; the exact terms applicable to your account will be the ones in effect when you accept paid service. Usage charges are billed monthly in arrears.

6. Termination

You can terminate your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend access for material breach of these terms, with notice where practical. On termination, we delete your data within 24 hours unless retention is required by law or by an active legal process.

7. Disclaimer

Signal is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. The models, predictions, and recommendations Signal produces are tools to support your decision-making, not substitutes for professional judgment. We do not guarantee any specific outcome from use of the service.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Signal's aggregate liability for any claim arising from these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months prior to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

9. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-product notice at least 30 days before they take effect, except where a faster change is required by law.
